第77屆艾美獎頒獎典禮於美國時間14日晚間在洛杉磯登場（台灣時間15日上午），典禮盛大舉行，星光雲集。本屆頒獎共頒發26項大獎，從喜劇、戲劇到迷你影集戰況激烈，其中 Apple TV+ 的《人生切割術》（Severance）、英國迷你影集《混沌少年時》（Adolescence）、以及喜劇《片廠風雲》（The Studio）、醫療劇《匹茲堡醫魂》（The Pitt）等作品呼聲最高，最終果然捧回多項大獎。
典禮由單口喜劇演員內特．巴爾加茲（Nate Bargatze）主持，他一登場就自嘲「第77屆確實不是很盛大的一屆，又不是75屆或80屆，但它是唯一叫我來的一屆」，幽默開場讓全場爆笑。當晚最大驚喜之一，是年僅15歲的英國童星歐文．庫柏（Owen Cooper），他在《混沌少年時》裡展現細膩演技，成功拿下「迷你影集最佳男配角」，不僅讓全場起立鼓掌，更創下艾美獎史上最年輕男配角得主的紀錄。《混沌少年時》當晚橫掃6項大獎，包括最佳迷你影集、最佳男主角、最佳女配角、最佳導演與最佳編劇，成為本屆最風光的作品之一。
喜劇方面，塞斯．羅根（Seth Rogen）主演的《片廠風雲》（The Studio）則一舉奪下最佳喜劇影集、最佳男主角、最佳導演與最佳編劇，共收穫4獎，寫下艾美喜劇新紀錄。戲劇類則由 HBO 的醫療劇《匹茲堡醫魂》（The Pitt）脫穎而出，拿下最佳戲劇影集。主演諾亞．懷利（Noah Wyle）封帝，凱瑟琳．拉納莎（Katherine LaNasa）更意外擊敗《白蓮花大飯店》的強敵群，拿下最佳戲劇女配角，成為本屆冷門之一。
另一個全場沸騰的時刻，則是脫口秀主持人史蒂芬．科貝爾（Stephen Colbert）。他在節目《The Late Show with Stephen Colbert》勇奪最佳脫口秀，現場觀眾起立鼓掌，高喊「Stephen！」呼聲久久不歇，因為這也是在CBS宣布停播節目後，他再度獲得的殊榮，格外感人。
此外，《人生切割術》（Severance）的崔梅爾．提爾曼（Tramell Tillman）成為艾美史上第一位奪下戲劇最佳男配角的黑人演員；同劇女星布莉特．洛薇（Britt Lower）則獲最佳戲劇女主角，延續該劇的話題熱度。喜劇部分，《Hacks》女主角琴．史馬特（Jean Smart）蟬聯后座，搭檔漢娜．恩拜德（Hannah Einbinder）也拿下最佳喜劇女配角，雙雙開心抱獎。
節目中還穿插多個特別橋段，包含《Law & Order》演員重聚、「吉爾摩女孩」母女檔與《星期三》珍娜．奧特嘉、凱瑟琳．麗塔瓊斯同台頒獎，星光熠熠。追思環節由《考斯比家庭秀》女星菲莉西亞．拉沙德（Phylicia Rashad）開場，感性向今年逝去的影人致敬。最終，《混沌少年時》與《片廠風雲》成為本屆最大贏家，而科貝爾的動人時刻與年僅15歲的新科小金人，則是讓典禮話題度衝上最高點。
